Mary Lucking
Public Art & Interactive Multimedia
I create artworks that help people explore, understand,
and change the environments where they live. Working in media as
varied as concrete walls, street signs, and discarded cell phones,
I use materials found in a particular place, and may be discovered
by accident by a varied audience. My projects include art incorporated
into urban and rural walking and biking trails, bus and rail stations,
traffic circles, and highway rest stops. In addition to public art,
I also create electronic interactive installations, often with
collaborator Andrew Sempere and with the artist collective TangentLab.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from Wellesley
College and a Master of Fine Arts in Art and Technology from the School
of the Art Institute of Chicago. I currently live and work in Tucson, Arizona.
