I put a layer of PC7 epoxy on the base, which was made of really poor
quality pressed chip board stuff-- I don't know what you call it, but
it was going to fall apart if people walked on it. I covered the pony
before I sanded it. The idea of doing the base last was that I could make
a mess on it while I was gluing and painting the pony, but in retrospect,
it would have been easier to prepare the base first.
