I didn't want to add much color to the mountains, since they were silhouetted against the sky, but they needed a little help to look more mountain-y. I decided to try to build up very dark paint in a way that would resemble the rocky texture. I'm pretty happy with the result.

I put a layer of PC7 epoxy on the base, which was made of really poor quality pressed chip board stuff-- I don't know what you call it, but it was going to fall apart if people walked on it. I covered the pony before I sanded it. The idea of doing the base last was that I could make a mess on it while I was gluing and painting the pony, but in retrospect, it would have been easier to prepare the base first.
