Old Blue

November 26

To raise the base of the diorama up closer to the peepholes, I filled the interior of the pony with foam. I wanted little foam pellets that I would be able to moosh it around easily, so I got a beanbag and emptied half the contents.

On top of the foam, I layed in a corrugated cardboard floor, which I cut by eyeballing, cutting, trying, and re-cutting. On top of the cardboard, I put in a foam-cor floor, which has a better surface for the grass flocking to adhere to.

It occurred to me, after I put the floor in, that I would have to get the cable for the light up through all the foam pellets and the two floors. I pulled up one of the sections of the floor with minimal damage, drilled a hole in the pony's front armpit, and threaded some kite string up through the hole using a wooden dowel. I figure I can pull the cord through with the string, but I think that I'll have to wait on building the floor until I get the light in.
